DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS TO HELP MAKE OUR SESSION GO SMOOTHLY WITH TWO CHILDREN THAT MAY BE UNCOOPERATIVE?
Yes! For starters, eat beforehand and bring snacks/treats to your session. The best snacks are pretzels, marshmallows or cheerios (not coloured food). Offer a bribe if you must, which works great for kids 3+. Playing and having fun with your kids during the session helps them relax and make it a more joyful experience. Also, don't let your child fall asleep in the car as most children take 15-20 minutes to fully wake from their nap. Bring items to help keep them entertained; toys, books, bubbles. Schedule a one hour session so your baby or toddler can take short breaks throughout the session in order to give them a chance to rest or have a snack. With a little bit of patience, I promise, I’ll be able to get some great shots of your children!
HOW CAN I PREPARE MY NEWBORN/INFANT FOR AN IN-HOME SHOOT?
Your baby should be fed right before the session starts and burped, so that they will be as comfortable as possible. As well, plan the session before or after nap time. Remove socks or tight fitting clothes before the session as they leave marks. Ensure they have a bottle/pacifier readily available if needed during the shoot.
HOW DO WE CHOOSE AN OUTDOOR LOCATION?
Don't worry! I've got you covered. I will typically ask what you desire most (cityscape, lake, ocean, forest, beach, etc.) and go from there. I know of several beautiful locations in the HRM area.
HOW CAN I PREPARE MY HOUSE?
Find the rooms with the best lighting, or the biggest windows. Tidy any rooms we will be using, open all blinds, put away all clutter and toys. Typically we use the living room, nursery, and master bedroom. These rooms should be clean and clutter-free.
WHAT IF MY HOUSE IS DARK WITH SMALL WINDOWS?
You can come to mine! If you are doing a newborn lifestyle session, I have a small (bright) space available for up to 3 people. If you prefer to use your own space, we can always find at least one spot inside and do some photos outside if weather permits, or I can use flash.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SESSION?
One of the many perks of booking with me is that I send you a mood board depending on the season at the time of booking. It will suggest palettes, textures and outfit ideas to help you determine what to wear. I am always open to answer any questions or help you decide. I am here to help!
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS?
Typically I average a 2-3 week turnaround time for the completion of edited online galleries.
